Possible Future Bond and Facilities Study

This past year the school district went through a facilities study via a grant from the Oregon Department of Education.  The final report is out, but the total cost of all the needs are well over what any future bond could support.  The school board would like to convene a group of interested community members, staff and parents who would look at the wish list and prioritize it for future reference.  The results of this committee’s work, after the priorities are set, would be to run a possible future bond.  Our current bond expires in 2021 and the tax rate is currently $2.54 per thousand.  If the district decided to do another bond, it might be $10 million at the current tax rate.  This would allow the district to do some of the necessary things from the facilities list.  If you are interested in helping the district set those priorities, please contact the district office at 503-458-5993 and leave your contact information.  If you prefer you can send an email to:  johnsonp@knappak12.org and leave your information with the superintendent.  The plan is to hold two meetings, the first one on January 31st at 6:00 pm and the next one to be determined by the committee.  The committee’s work will be submitted to the school board at their February meeting.
